Every number shows its source — or admits it doesn't have one.

What we do with your information

Plain English. No lawyers were involved.

What we collect. Your email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, and the details you type about your home — your address, your monthly bill, and the answers to the survey questions. We also keep a log of which pages you reached, so we can tell how many people finish the survey. Your address is recorded as soon as you open the survey page, before you submit anything.

Why. To build your savings report. Every number in it comes from what you told us, from public data, and from the published assumptions listed at the bottom of your report. That's the whole purpose.

Where your address goes. To build the report we have to look your home up. We send the address you type to the US Census Bureau geocoder to turn it into map coordinates, and we send those coordinates (not your address) to NREL's PVWatts to model how much sun your roof gets. Both are US government services. We never send them your email, your phone number, or your survey answers.

Who else sees it. Nobody else — unless you click "request quotes." If you do, we pass your report and your contact details to installers matched to that report so they can quote you. Today a person does that hand-off by hand; there's no automatic feed to anyone. That's the only time your contact details leave us, and it only happens because you asked. We do not sell your data, and we do not hand it to advertisers or data brokers.

How long we keep it. We keep your report so that your report link keeps working. If you want it deleted, ask and we'll delete it.

What we don't do. No tracking pixels, no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics, no ad networks. This site sets no cookies at all. The page-view log described above is ours alone and is never shared.

One thing we'd rather say than hide. Our pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, which means Google's servers see your IP address when a page loads. We don't send them anything else, and we get nothing back. We'd like to remove that dependency.
